Fly ash is light for its weight, so a container usually fills up before it weighs out. Set your tonnage and density below to see what you actually need to book.

Indicative only. A 20′ dry container is taken as 33 m³ and 28.2 MT payload, a 40′ as 67 m³ and 26.7 MT, with a stowage allowance for voids between bags. Final stowage is confirmed at the time of booking.

Reading the Result

Weight Limited or Volume Limited?

Loose fly ash runs roughly 550 to 850 kg per cubic metre. That is light — so in a 20′ container the cargo generally runs out of space long before it reaches the 28.2 MT the box is rated to carry.

A 40′ container flips it. There is twice the volume but a lower payload rating, so the same ash usually weighs out first. Knowing which limit binds tells you which box is cheaper per tonne.

If your result says volume limited, packing denser or shipping in bulk buys you more tonnes per container. If it says weight limited, you are already paying for air — a smaller box will cost less per tonne.
